Bar or Bat mitzvah: a ceremony held in the synagogue to admit a 13 year old boy or girl as an adult member of the Jewish community who has successfully completed a prescribed course of study in Judaism.
Quinceanera: In the Latin culture, a girl's 15th birthday celebration, marking her "womanhood" and such. It's usually huge, like a mini wedding; everyone dresses formally, band plays, wedding-like cake, the works.
Neither of these celebrations are as common where I live, but I was lucky enough to experience one or two of each in the last several years.
